We drive first to Mdina, the old capital of Malta. It is a typical mediaeval, walled city situated in the centre of the Island, also known as the "Silent City". Here we visit St. Paul's Cathedral and walk thorugh the tiny streets admiring the main highlights. After a stop at the bastions that command magnificent vistas of the island, we go to Rabat to visit the beautiful St. Paul's Church that stands above a grotto where St. Paul is said to have taken refuge after his shipwreck on Malta. Then, we'll continue to Marsaxlokk, the largest fishing port of Malta. You can see here fishermen children helping their grandfather repair his fishing boat. Behind them the colorful Luzzu boats, on which the Maltese fishermen paint their traditional eye of Osiris (Phoenicians' god of protection from evil).. Our final destination is Valletta, the Capital City of Malta,built in the 16th century by the Knights of St. John. Drive around the bastions and walking tour of the main highlights. Admire the stunning view of the Grand Harbour from the Upper Barakka Gardens and visit St John's Co-Cathedral.the main burial place of the Knights. The church boasts some of the most beautiful works of art by Mattia Preti and Caravaggio inclluding the famous "Beheading of St. John".
